Updating iphone baseband

Using an original IPSW will not work, because redsn0w's pwned DFU Mode doesn't patch sigchecks in i BSS (which is loaded from the IPSW).

You must load a patched i BSS/i BEC for this to work.Firmwares like 4.2.1 and above have baseband checks on the Restore Ramdisk. If the modified IPSW is restored, i Tunes will give an Error 1015 and the i Device will be in a recovery mode loop which cannot be exited by Tiny Umbrella or the 'setenv auto-boot true' command Fortunately, the Update Ramdisk does not contain that baseband check so if the Update Method is used which is mentioned below, i Tunes will give an Error 1013 and it can be exited by Tiny Umbrella and the i Recovery command. This site is a technical reference for various things including mac OS, OSX, Web Hosting, web workflow, CSS and other tech like gems - the site is for my reference and yours - there is nothing like finding the right solution that works. The site is aimed at any level of complexity just containing random technical obstacles and observations that I like to document and refer back to - so I hope that you might benefit too.
